Hang in there

When things are bleak, we feel Alone and without a friend.
Have Faith in the truth: that all things come Good in the end
If the future is brighter and warmer then things can’t be so bad
It may be Dark and Cold today but that’s no reason to stay sad

So, hang in there, just hold on tight
Hang in there, you know I’m right.
The day is Cold, yesterday was too
But it’s just a phase is what I’m telling you

The Cold will warm up, it really won’t last.
The grey skies will change, become a thing of the past
Replaced by warmth and a clearer, bluer sky.
It’s a proven fact and not some reassuring lie

There will be a sunnier, brighter day
I may not know how or in what way
But this much I can say I do know
Today will be gone, replaced by tomorrow

My honey

Today is it sunny sunny
And I like it. It does funny
Things sometimes to my honey
Making him all smooth and runny

Without my help, he gives surfaces a clean, even coat
All golden and smooth – I tell you it really rocks my boat!

Sometimes he squirts and it’s not ideal – you’d think I would mind.
You’d be wrong though: I wouldn’t dare tell him off or demand a rewind

To me yes it’s something that needs to be cleaned but isn’t icky
I mop it up - a wonderful opportunity to get all licky licky and sticky

So, to me it’s no grievance if there are a few drips
Or even a spill – I’ll get stuck in and enjoy every one of those sips!

I’m happy today

The sun is shining
You are smiling

The skies are cloudy and blue
I’m smiling, all because of you

I won’t name you – my Sunshine knows who he is
And I know you’ll know it’s you if you read this

I have you beside me
Such is my happiness
It warrants a shout for joy, a ‘whoopee’
It’d be cheating to do anything less

It’s bursting to escape in a scream
I should stop myself with an ice cream
Ooh I tell a lie, it doesn’t helps but makes me daydream
Of sunny days with you, we make such a good team!

The memories flow, encouraging me to bust
Out the happiness inside but control it I must

So today is bright and I’m happy, so happy -
If you hear a loud scream it probably was me!

I am very fond of some of my possessions, in particular my Kaftan. In appreciation of my Kaftan - I have two - I've written a little poem, honouring what I feel to be such a wonderful piece of clothing in my life...

The pleasure I feel as you adorn me
In your printed cotton of swirling colours
I may choose to be in black and orange or black and yellow
Whichever of you I feel to wear that evening

The pleasure I feel as you envelop me
Draping, floating around my body
Making me look long and flowing
No one could ever tell I have a pot belly and hairy legs.

The comfort I feel as you secure me
With your cotton drawstring around my waist
And the times I get so lost in you when I pull you off over my head
Because you are so long it takes a little while to take you off

And then I get caught up in your little drawstring as I forget to untie it
And I run around my room for a while
Looking like a little kaftan monster with legs as I fight to get you off
So I can get showered and dressed and have breakfast and get to work.

Oh Kaftan. I love you so
And I always will
Others will come to see your beauty and stylish magic
For the ones who do not – such oblivion is tragic

They cannot see that you Kaftan, are the future – I’ve seen it
And Barack too, will wear you. I will buy him one
From Kaftan Man in Nags Head Market
And send it to him by Royal Mail, for the look of an African son

I Love You Kaftan. More than Thierry and now more than Derren
Since I found out he was gay and I'd been emitting my ‘fancying’ energy to him on the TV
He’s a brilliant illusionist but I won’t be saying ‘Cor I’d fancy some of him’ because he prefers a man to fancy some of him. Just what did I do for him to turn away like that?

I Love You Kaftan
And like Whitney says to Kevin in The Bodyguard
I will always love you. x

Captivated by SEIZURE, a sculpture by Roger Hiorn

The walk from Elephant and Castle tube station pass the lively market was vibrant enough with the rich colours of autumn. I’d go as far as to say the walk to this highly anticipated exhibition was fitting, it set the scene. I walk on to Harper Road, following signs that point the interested visitor to the SEIZURE exhibition. It’s not a long walk to the estate of one-bedroomed derelict and identical 1960’s flats, forming a U shape around a couple of trees, the most colour you’ll see on the estate… Continue
